PSV Prepares to Extend Undefeated Streak in Eredivisie After International Break

Now that the international break is over, the Eredivisie will resume. Leader PSV opens the Easter weekend with an away match against cup finalist NEC. Peter Bosz’s team is still undefeated, but will that still be the case after the visit to the Goffert Stadium? In any case, the Brabanders will travel to the Waalstad with a fit selection.

Bosz only has to miss Noa Lang for the meeting with the red-green-black. Ismael Saibari, who was out of action for a few weeks, is back, as is Walter Benítez. The goalkeeper made his debut for reigning world champion Argentina in the practice match against Costa Rica (3-1 win). “Walter was beaming with pride,” said Bosz at last Friday’s press conference.

Bosz was also pleased with what PSV players Joey Veerman and Jerdy Schouten showed against Germany. “I have seen a great Germany. It was almost a grand rondo that they had to play against. It wasn’t easy. In any case, it is difficult to judge that, because you do not know what the assignments were. It was a difficult task as Germany overloaded the midfield. Within the possibilities, I think they did a great job.”

Recordjacht

With a number of points of 72 from 26 competition matches, PSV is comfortably in the lead. The lead with its pursuer, Feyenoord, is ten points. The people of Eindhoven can thus achieve a wonderful performance. In the Eredivisie it has been three years since the difference with the number two was so big. “We can write history,” regular left back Sergino Dest told ESPN. “It would mean a lot because people will remember this team forever.”

If PSV wants to maintain its undefeated status, it must first deal with NEC. A potential bump in the championship according to Bosz. “We still have a number of difficult matches, on paper, and they are certainly one of them. It is a team that plays good football and is in a good position in the competition. NEC has a real footballer in almost every position. They rely on football, dominance and ball possession. In the beginning there was a lot of criticism, because few points were achieved. But they have kept the peace and they play nice football with the same coach,” concludes a praising Bosz.

Probable setup: Benítez; Teze, Ramalho, Boscagli, Dest; Schouten, Til, Veerman; Bakayoko, De Jong, Lozano.
