PSG: Xavi Simons is “very happy” in Leipzig and is not thinking about next season

In an interview with German media Kicker, Xavi Simons, who arrived in Paris in 2019 and is under contract with the capital club until 2027, spoke about his future. On loan again since July, the Dutch winger shines in the red and white colors of Leipzig and prefers to live day by day, without thinking about next season.

“I am now focusing on Leipzig. I want to enjoy my present, and my present is Leipzig. We now have important matches awaiting us, and then there will be the European Championship in June,” recalled the Dutchman, international since the 2022 World Cup, who will try to qualify for the quarter-finals of Champions League against Real Madrid this Wednesday (1-0 for the Merengues in the first leg).

Xavi Simons knows that negotiations about his future will concern both clubs and will take place in due time and prefers to speak on the pitch, where he excels, with 8 goals and 12 assists in all competitions this season: “This It’s not yet time to think about next year. After the season, all parties will talk to each other and discuss the events. I am very happy here. »

Happy, the leaders of Leipzig are too. A few days ago, Rouven Schröder, the sports director, confirmed to Sky Germany the club’s desire to keep the former de la Masia: “Of course we would like to keep Xavi Simons for one more season. At the end of the season he will return to PSG and we will then have the opportunity to ask for a new loan. »

His good first half of the season with the German club did not escape PSG’s Spanish coach, Luis Enrique, when asked last week at a press conference: “He’s a PSG player, it’s obvious that we follow it closely. I don’t want to say too much, I respect Leipzig but we are in contact. » A new summer file for PSG in close connection with another big soap opera in the Parisian attack: the announced departure of Kylian Mbappé.
