Genoa to Host 34th International Judo Tournament “Genova Città di Colombo” as Part of European Capital of Sport Schedule

Genova. Genoa will be the capital of international Judo next weekend. The Fiumara Stadium is in fact ready to host the 34th International Judo Tournament “Genova Città di Colombo”, a historic event organized by the Marassi Judo Sports Center and. The event, included in the “Genoa 2024 European Capital of Sport” schedule, enjoys the patronage of the Liguria Region, the Municipality of Genoa, the national and regional CONI, and takes place under the aegis of the Italian Judo Wrestling Karate Arts Federation Marziali (FIJLKAM) as well as being included in the male and female “Gran Prix Cadetti e Juniores” federal circuit.

There are over 1300 athletes registered for the competition, accompanied by their 300 coaches registered for 240 clubs arriving from all over Italy together with delegations from Azerbaijan, Belgium, France, Great Britain, Poland, Romania, the Principality of Monaco, San Marino, Spain, Switzerland , Turkey and Hungary. A high profile international test, important in view of the European and World Championships in the category. A showcase for many young people who wish to stand out in an international youth context of increasing level year after year. For this reason, the event will be carefully followed by the technicians of the National Judo team and the FIJLKAM president Domenico Falcone.

The program includes the accreditation of clubs and representatives and the weighing of athletes on Friday 17 May. On Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th May the matches on the six Marassi Judo tatamis set up, directed by the 40 match officials (15 international) selected by FIJLKAM, will begin at 9am and end at 8.30pm.
