The Parisians largely won in Montpellier (2-6) this Sunday evening at the end of the 26th day of the championship.

An orgy of goals to close a great weekend of sport and the 26th day of Ligue 1. PSG largely won in Montpellier (2-6) on Sunday thanks, in particular, to a hat-trick from Kylian Mbappé. Vitinha, Kang-in Lee and Nuno Mendes also scored for the Ligue 1 leader, with Arnaud Nordin and Teji Savanier once bringing MHSC to 2-2 in the first half. Luis Enrique’s men, untouchable in the second half, took a 12-point lead over Brest.

This Sunday evening match kept all its promises from the start. Initially pushed around on Montpellier’s first chances, the Parisians finally reacted in the best possible way. On a back ball, Vitinha eliminated his defender and curled perfectly with his right foot to open the scoring (0-1, 14th). As the Paillade players pushed, they discovered themselves and paid a high price. Kolo Muani led the counter before serving Mbappé, who deceived the Montpellier goalkeeper, Bertaud, with his left foot (0-2, 23rd).

A one-sided second act

But with a lack of concentration on the breakthroughs of Arnaud Nordin in particular, the capital’s players were scared. First with a new sprint from the French winger, the locals reduced the gap (1-2, 28th) before Téji Savanier tied the two teams from the penalty spot, just before returning to the locker room (2-2 , 43rd).

From the restart, the Montpellier team did not seem to be at the same physical level as the Parisians, who had clearly increased the pace, exploiting to perfection every space left by their opponents. First thanks to a sublime strike from Mbappé (2-3, 49th), then a second from Kang-In Lee, Luis Enrique’s men made the break in just 10 minutes.

Defeated by these two cannon shots, the locals never found the physical and psychological resources to return to this game. They collapsed and were unable to appear dangerous on the rare balls they brought into the Parisian camp. Feeding on this domination, the Rouge et Bleu took the opportunity to have a one-sided end to the match. Mbappé scored his third goal of the evening on a superb opening from Vitinha (2-5, 62nd), before the incoming Nuno Mendes, who replaced Lucas Hernandez, victim of a muscle problem, delighted in his turn precise passes from his compatriot in the middle (2-6, 89th).
