350 students from the 4th year of Primary Education from 12 schools in Tomelloso participated this morning in the Alternative Sports Olympics held in the town’s Sports City. At 09:00 a.m. Groups of students have been formed who have gone through the sports included this year in the activity that have been practiced outdoors, on the sports courts, as well as on the courts and the fronton of the covered pavilion. In this edition, colpball, scooter, ringo, datchball and korfball were practiced, sports that combine physical activity with games. They emerge as an option to traditional sports and are based, in some cases on popular games known to all, and on variants of sports already consolidated and known to all.

Mayor Javier Navarro has been interested in this activity organized by the Municipal Sports Area, which is part of the program that he has been developing with schools on a quarterly basis. Navarro thanked the schools for their participation and congratulated the teachers for getting involved with their students in promoting sports practice, in this case, in a playful and non-competitive way.

The activity has had the support of the Sports Area staff and intern instructors who have been in charge of organizing the groups’ shifts and rotations. The day included a break to have a snack.
