Pink Spiders Defeat Red Sparks in Korean V League Playoff Semifinals

Bola.net – Red Sparks were defeated by Pink Spiders in the third match of the playoff semifinals Korean V League aka South Korean Women’s Volleyball League 2023/2024 at Samsan World Gymnasium, Incheon, Tuesday (26/3/2024).

Previously, Megawati Hangestri et al were able to beat the Pink Spiders in the second match at home and the score was balanced 1-1. Red Sparks is now on a tough mission to defeat Kim Yeon-koung et al at their own headquarters.

Red Sparks opened the first set less well. They immediately fell behind 4-1 and 5-2.

Lee Ju-ah’s serve was caught in the net but the Pink Spiders were still ahead 10-5. Red Sparks continued to fall behind 13-6 because they couldn’t stop Kim Yeon-keung and Willow Johnson and this forced Koo Hee-jin to take a time out.

The Pink Spiders continued to lead 18-12 after Giovanna Milana’s back attack was caught in the net. Red Sparks showed signs of revival but in the end they were defeated 25-18 thanks to service ace Reina Tokoku.

Second Set

Red Sparks immediately took momentum at the start of the second set and they were able to take a 0-3 lead over Pink Spiders thanks to spikes by Megawati Hangestri and Han Song-yi. However, two consecutive blocks from the hosts allowed them to equalize the score at 3-3.

Kim Yeon-koung’s spike finally put the Pink Spiders ahead 7-5. Willow Johnson’s smash extended their lead over the Red Sparks to 14-10.

Megawati’s block on Reina’s spike brought the Red Sparks closer to 16-13. But Yeon-koung’s Spike kept the Pink Spiders away 20-16.

Gia’s back attack was blocked, leaving the Red Sparks behind 22-16. But in the end the Pink Spiders closed the second set with another 25-18 lead.

Third Set

In the third set, the Red Sparks appeared enthusiastic and put up significant resistance. Megawati Hangestri scored three points and helped her team take a 4-7 lead over the Pink Spiders.

The match was stopped briefly. Because Yeum Hye-seon’s left leg was having problems.

However, then the Pink Spiders were able to equalize at 9-9 but were able to take the lead again 12-13 thanks to Megawati’s spike. However, the situation turned around quickly and the Pink Spiders were able to take the lead 22-17.

In the end, Red Sparks couldn’t catch up. The Pink Spiders beat them with a score of 25-19 after Megawati’s spike went off the field.

With this defeat, the Red Sparks ended up losing in three straight sets. Pink Spiders also won 2-1 on aggregate and had the right to advance to the final to face Hyundai Hillstate.

So how many points did Megawati Hangestri get in this match? He only scored 16 points.

However, he was the top scorer for the Red Sparks camp in this match. Meanwhile Giovanna Milana only recorded 12 points.

The top score in this match was achieved by the South Korean women’s volleyball queen and Pink Spiders legend, Kim Yeon-koung. He recorded 21 points.
