Pike Central Football Head Coach Resigns Ahead of 2024 Season

PIKE COUNTY, Ky. (WYMT) – Pike Central football will be searching for a new head coach ahead of the 2024 high school football season.

Ronn Varney announced Wednesday he is resigning as the head coach after holding the position since 2021.

Varney sent his resignation notice through email saying, “Today, March 27, 2024, I am resigning as head football coach. It was an honor to be the head coach at the place I called home as a student, player, and assistant coach for many years. However, at this time I feel I need to focus on more time with my family and other career opportunities.”

In 2021, Pike Central football finished with a 3-9 overall record. In 2022, the Hawks finished 3-7, while they improved to 5-6 overall last season.
