Since the departure of Kenley Jansen, the Dodgers have not had consistency in the closer role and even the role has been fulfilled by committee. Manager Dave Roberts has not revealed what the plan is for 2024 in this department, but right-hander Phillips has plenty of arguments to be named the starting closer. He is, in fact, Los Angeles’ strongest reliever over the last two seasons and he delivered when he had a chance to close out games last year. In 2023 he made 62 appearances, saved 24 games, had a 2.05 ERA and had 66 strikeouts in 61.1 innings.
