Be careful if you want to drive in Paris this Sunday. Due to the half-marathon, the Paris police headquarters announced this Saturday in a press release “to set up a specific traffic system” for “March 3, 2024”. “Road traffic [risque] to be strongly disturbed in the center east of the capital,” she explains. According to the organizers, runners’ departures will take place between 7:58 a.m. and 11:01 a.m., with last arrivals scheduled after 1 p.m. at least. The route extends over 21.0975 km.

In detail, “participants will leave Boulevard Saint-Michel from 8 a.m., and will join the Paris National Opera, via the Quai d’Austerlitz, the Tolbiac Bridge, Rue de Charenton, Avenue de Gravelle, the route de la Pyramide, avenue Daumesnil, the boulevard and the quai de Bercy, the quai de la Râpée, the Morland bridge, the quai des Célestins, the rue de Rivoli, the rue Saint-Antoine, the square from the Bastille to rue de Lyon,” warns the police headquarters.
“Traffic gradually restored”
As a result, “private vehicles parked along the route or its surroundings will be subject to movement measures”. These will therefore have to be parked elsewhere. It is also “highly recommended” to “circumvent the area very widely” during the half-marathon. “Traffic (…) will be restored gradually, depending on the appearance of the place,” adds the police headquarters.
Last year, the Paris half-marathon was won by the Kenyan Roncer Kipcorir in the men’s race and by his compatriot Sheila Chepkurui in the women’s race. In total, 43,000 people participated, 3,000 more than during the 2022 edition.
