OranjeLeeuwinnen Fail to Qualify for Olympics: A Blessing in Disguise?

The OranjeLeeuwinnen did not manage to qualify for the Olympic Games. On Wednesday evening, the team of national coach Andries Jonker lost 0-2 to Germany. In the podcast The Warm-up Leon ten Voorde has a special opinion about this.

“When the Dutch team plays, you are always in favor of the Netherlands,” Ten Voorde begins. “But on the other hand, I don’t think they really minded it at all, they were already so tired. On the one hand, I don’t mind that they are not going to the Games. They are so hyped by the NOS, if they go to the Games, the attention will only be on them.”

“I think that attention should be paid to the Femke Bols of this world, who are really top of the world,” he continues. “Then the NOS goes there again with six analysts and we only get attention for the Lionesses. For the rest of the sport, I think it’s a blessing that they didn’t make it.”
