Sebastian Ofner was eliminated in round two of the Masters 1000 tennis tournament in Miami. On Saturday, the 27-year-old lost to the Argentinian Francisco Cerundolo, who was two years his junior, in their first duel 6:7 (2/7) 7:6 (7/2, 1:6). In round one, Ofner faced the Japanese Kei Nishikori prevailed 6:3 6:4 on his comeback after an injury break.

Ofner missed out on reaching the third round of an ATP tournament against number 20 in the hard court classic for the second time this year in Hong Kong at the beginning of January. Since then he hasn’t had two victories in a row. “I would say two and a half sets were really good, but unfortunately in the third I felt my body a little bit. It’s just relatively difficult to maintain it somehow against someone like that,” said the Styrian.
