Niederreiter’s Jets on course for playoffs after win, bankruptcy for New Jersey

1/5

Nino Niederreiter (l.) remains without a scorer point.

The Winnipeg Jets continue to head towards playoff participation in the NHL. The team with Nino Niederreiter beats the Washington Capitals 3-0 at home.

With the comfortable victory, the Jets show a strong reaction to the 0:5 two days earlier at the Vancouver Canucks. The team with Pius Suter is currently number 1 in the West.

The Jets maintain a rhythm when scoring goals against the Capitals. They each score once in the middle of the three-thirds. Niederreiter leaves the ice without any further scorer points. Winnipeg remains in third place in the Western Conference standings.

Devils lose again to Rangers

The Los Angeles Kings with Kevin Fiala are ranked four places behind the Jets. The team from California consolidated their position with a 3-0 win at home against the in-form New York Islanders, who had previously won six games in a row.

The New Jersey Devils, on the other hand, are increasingly losing sight of the decisive phase of the championship. The team with Nico Hischier, Timo Meier and Jonas Siegenthaler also lost their third game of the current season against the New York Rangers.

Siegenthaler out after an elbow check

Shortly before the end of the second third, Siegenthaler received a bad elbow check against Matt Rempe’s head. This will result in a five minute penalty plus a game misconduct penalty. The game also ends early for Siegenthaler. He doesn’t return to the ice after that. Coach Travis Green said after the game: “He’s obviously not doing particularly well. He didn’t come back.” There is currently no more information.

With 1:3 in the neighboring duel at Madison Square Garden, the Devils can hope for 73 seconds before the end. But then the American Vincent Trocheck made things clear with his hit into the empty box. A good minute earlier, Hischier was one of the preparers for the goal by Slovakian defender Simon Nemec. (SDA)
