Alex Albon (Williams) extends his contract for several seasons

The Williams team announced this Wednesday morning that Alex Albon, 28, had signed a contract extension for several seasons, without however specifying the exact duration. In February, the British structure, through its boss James Vowles, specified that the Thai’s current contract ran until the end of 2025, a way of putting an end to the rumors which sent the driver to Red Bull or Mercedes after the transfer of Lewis Hamilton at Ferrari.

“A long-term project in which I believe a lot”

Last season, Albon finished 13th in the drivers’ standings, scoring 27 points, which contributed greatly to Williams’ 7th constructors’ finish, his best finish in six years. This year, in six Grands Prix, the Thai driver has never finished in the points. “It was a difficult start to the season,” admitted Albon, “but since I joined Williams (in 2022) we have made huge progress together and I have seen the huge changes that have been made behind the scenes for bring us back to the top of the grid. It’s a long-term project in which I believe a lot. »
