Nice falls again in Ligue 1 against Montpellier

The match: 1-2

A defeat against the barrage was not necessary to understand that Nice is not doing well. Beaten at home by Montpellier (1-2), this Friday, the Gym went a sixth match without a victory in the Championship and could fall from the Top 5 at the end of the weekend. The state of grace is definitively over for Francesco Farioli on the Côte d’Azur. The bronca that fell from the sparse stands at the final whistle and the tense exchanges with the ultras at the foot of the South turn are there to bear witness to this.

Nothing or almost nothing has worked yet for the Aiglons, quickly trailing after the own goal from a corner by Jean-Clair Todibo (10th). If they quickly equalized (see below) with a header from Jérémie Boga on a cross from Gaëtan Laborde (12th), the Nice striker was then guilty of a hand in his area, leading to a justified and validated penalty by VAR. Hérault captain Téji Savanier asked for nothing more to give his team the advantage (42nd).

In the second half, Michel Der Zakarian’s players could have taken cover on the counter (55th), but they were mainly content to preserve their advantage. Boga (48th), Evann Guessand (68th) and Terem Moffi (90th+3) tried their luck, without success. So much so that the MHSC took the opportunity to carry out a superb accounting operation, temporarily gaining four places and abandoning the position of jump-off in Le Havre.

The player: Khazri holder and volunteer

Already interesting when he came into play against Strasbourg (2-2), last Sunday, Wahbi Khazri was once again useful at the Allianz Riviera. Back in the starting lineup, after a brief sidelining, the Tunisian international (33 years old, 74 caps) caused the penalty and could have offered a decisive pass to Savanier without a return from Khephren Thuram (55th) . Even if he was not really dangerous, his activity at the forefront hampered the Nice defense. He spared no effort and had to give up his place due to cramps.

32

Following Todibo’s error, Nice took exactly 32 seconds after kick-off to equalize. Eleven passes were enough for him to return to 1-1 in the first period, thanks to Boga’s goal.
