Just when the NBA seems to be definitively opening up to the world of sports betting, a case emerges that could change everything. As indicated ESPNthe NBA is investigating Toronto Raptors player Jontay Porter for two instances of betting irregularities in recent months.
To be exact, the two games they analyze are January 26 against Los Angeles Clippers and March 20 against Sacramento King. In both cases, one suspects that Porter could have arranged his performance (never the match) so that the combination of all his statistics was respected, exactly that of the sous.
Being able to bet on all the statistics of each player, betting houses set a limit for each player in terms of points, rebounds, assists and much more. If it exceeds those numbers we’re talking over and if it doesn’t hit those numbers we’re talking under. Well, both against the Clippers and against the Kings, Porter left all his statistics below, since he only played four and three minutes respectively, citing physical problems.
In reality, compliance with one parameter or another is not at all irregular. However, it is true that, as DraftKings announced, it was Porter’s underbet on triples that generated the most money against the Clippers. We are talking about a two-way contract which saw a suspicious increase in betting on these two days, being the main source of income for bettors during these NBA evenings.

While waiting to see how the situation will be resolved, the coach of the Canadian organization, Darko Rajaković, emphasizes that he trusts his players, but that he has never been confronted with something like this.
“I never doubt injuries. I never doubt the honesty of the players. Obviously, I had never experienced a situation like this before. I don’t know what the franchise will do. I know no one wants this kind of situation to happen to anyone, to any team. We just have to deal with it,” he said.
