NBA Contradicts Rudy Gobert’s Refereeing Complaints: League Rules in Favor of Officials

By Mathieu S. | NBA Editor

Dissatisfied with the refereeing during the match against Cleveland, Rudy Gobert complained about the officials, and in particular Scott Foster. However, the NBA has just contradicted him.

While Rudy Gobert needs to raise his level of play in the absence of Karl-Anthony Towns, he was talked about for the wrong reasons against the Cavaliers earlier in the week. Dissatisfied with the refereeing, the Frenchman attacked the officials, even accusing betting of having an influence on the outcome of a meeting. Several Internet users have also supported this theory.

Criticize refereeing in front of the media? This is quite frowned upon by the NBA, which does not really appreciate criticism of this kind. Gobert, however, believes that the officials did a horrible job against Cleveland and we can admit that some whistles were surprising. However, the league doesn’t really agree with the person concerned.

The league openly contradicts Rudy Gobert

As after each match, the NBA unveils its “Last Two Minutes Report”, where we can find annotations concerning the decisions of the referees and whether they were right or not. On the foul where Gobert complained about being poorly officiated, it turns out that the league approves of the officials. According to them, it was Rudy who committed a foul on Jarrett Allen.

In the latest report from the NBA’s final two minutes between Cavs and Timberwolves, the league explains that officials made the correct call on Rudy Gobert’s sixth foul and the whistle.

While Gobert complained about being pushed by Allen, the league believes the Frenchman is actually guilty of pulling his opponent’s jersey. Not sure that the person concerned gives it importance, but some have accused him of adding tons of it after his criticisms. The NBA has ruled on its side and closed the case.

No, Rudy Gobert was not the victim of a refereeing error against the Cavaliers, at least not on this foul 30 seconds from the end. That won’t calm the Frenchman down, especially since Scott Foster’s reputation has already been tarnished for a long time.
