Reinaldo Oliveros / @reioliveros

The National League East Division has one of the toughest divisions with the Atlanta Braves, Philadelphia Phillies, New York Mets, Miami Marlins and Washington Nationals.

The Atlanta Braves will once again seek the lead after a campaign of more than 100 wins, but closely followed by the Phillies with a strong rotation and a recovered Bryce Harper.

The Mets are in a stage of change with Carlos Mendoza as manager, the Marlins under an internal transition and the Nationals looking to the future.

Atlanta Braves will seek to repeat their dominance in 2024

Best player: Ronald Acuña Jr.

The Atlanta Braves had 104 wins in the regular season, the most in the franchise since 1998.

With Ronald Acuña Jr. Matt Olson, Austin Riley and Ozzie Albies, the Atlanta Braves had the best offense in the Major Leagues in 2023.

This year they must revalidate that pennant on the same basis. They have a Michael Harris II who will be healthy from the beginning of the season and with Adam Duvall back

Spencer Strider will command a rotation that will have Chris Sale and Max Fried so the Braves are also supported from the pitching staff. Strider will seek the record of 300 strikeouts for the first time in his career.

Philadelphia Phillies will seek to snatch the crown

Best Player: Bryce Harper

The Philadelphia Phillies fought until the Championship Series in 2023. This year the team will have Bryce Harper starting at first base and Zack Wheeler, who signed a contract extension.

The Philadelphia team will continue to have an offensive heart led by Kyle Schwarber, Trea Turner, Nick Castellanos, Bryson Stott and Bryce Harper.

The team hopes to improve its rotation with Wheeler, Nola, the Venezuelan Ranger Suárez, Taijuan Walker.

But Philadelphia will not be able to lose track of the Braves and the wild card in an increasingly difficult division.

New York Mets look to leave 2023 behind

Best player: Francisco Lindor

The New York Mets are coming off a negative 2023 with a negative record of 75-83 and the departure of Buck Showalter as team leader.

With the arrival of Carlos Mendoza, the Mets hope to bring a positive change to the franchise that left Justin Verlander and Max Scherzer last season.

This year they added the arrival of Luis Severino and Kodai Senga they hope to have a stronger rotation than in 2023.

As for the offense, Lindor was one of the best with a 30-30 campaign, Pete Alonso with more than 40 home runs, but they dealt with many injuries to players like Starling Marte and Lindor himself.

The Mets will be able to fight for a wild card spot and with the newcomer of JD. Martínez help Pete Alonso and bring runs for the metropolitans.

Miami Marlins in an internal restructuring

Best Player: Luis Arraez

The Miami Marlins will have a difficult season without being able to count on Sandy Alcántara and Eury Pérez at the beginning of the season, both due to injuries.

Peter Bendix took over as general manager following the departure of Kim Ng during the offseason. The team moved little in free agency, but got its everyday shortstop with the arrival of Tim Anderson in free agency.

With a healthy Jazz Chisholm Jr., Jake Burger and Luis Arráez, the Marlins can improve on the offense that was in slumps in several parts of 2023.

Washington Nationals set their sights on farms

Best Player: CJ Abrams

The Washington Nationals team has the 24th payroll according to Spotrac. The team is still restructuring after the 2019 World Series.

CJ Abrams is one of the players who marks the future of the organization after a good 2023 and stealing almost 50 bases.

With young talents on the farms such as Dylan Crews (MLB number 7 prospect) and James Wood (number 14 prospect) they hope to build a team that can once again compete in the National League.

This year they will seek to surpass their record from last season when they finished with a record of 71 wins and 91 losses.
