After yesterday’s convincing and very important victory in France (2-0), everyone is suddenly in the mood for our national team again – and for a future with national coach Julian Nagelsmann (36).
His contract expires after the home European Championships (June 14th to July 14th). DFB President Bernd Neuendorf (62) had announced that he wanted to start discussions with his coach after the international matches against France and Holland (Tuesday, 8.45 p.m.). DFB boss Neuendorf: “From our side it is absolutely desirable, it is very harmonious. And yes, I don’t think there would be anything against that from our side. But yes, we have to talk to each other and I am very confident that we will quickly reach a result.”

After the game, Nagelsmann opened the poker himself with a few striking hints, saying yesterday on “ZDF”: “Of course it depends a bit on the offer, that’s clear.” A wink to the bosses Neuendorf, director Rudi Völler (63) and managing director Andreas Rettig (60) to approach him with a convincing offer?

The national coach then immediately classified his statements – and immediately took the pace out of the topic again! Nagelsmann: “I didn’t want to put any pressure on. I told Andreas, Rudi and Bernd that my statements were not intended to put the DFB under any pressure or pressure to act. We signed the contract fully consciously until after the European Championships.”

And further: “I don’t want to put pressure on an offer to be available by 9:30 p.m. tomorrow evening. This is guaranteed to happen from then on. The offer is also not a guarantee. You have to read through what it says, which is my current employer’s idea. There are a lot of things that come into play in this business that you have to think about and decide on. My comments were open, perhaps even more open than one or two colleagues usually make. We want to play a good European Championship, then we’ll see.”
Nagelsmann’s future remains a mystery!
The only thing that is clear so far is that he doesn’t want to take a break, but wants to continue working immediately after the European Championships – at a club or the DFB.

An important factor is the family. Due to the custody agreement with his ex-wife, the children who live in the Munich region play a major role in the decision. Nagelsmann wants to actively support the development. This can hardly be reconciled with a job abroad and is difficult even in Dortmund.
