National Cadet and Junior Judo Championships to be held in Santo Domingo with dedication to Dr. Juan A. Niemen

SANTO DOMINGO. With a dedication to Dr. Juan A. Niemen, the Dominican Judo Federation (Fedojudo) will celebrate this weekend the National Cadet and Junior Championships at the National House of that sport at the Juan Pablo Duarte Olympic Center.

With the dedication of the contest to Dr. Niemen, immortal of the sport in the San Pedro de Macorís Hall of Fame, the Fedojudo renders a fitting recognition for the doctor’s contributions to that entity.

The tournament, organized by Fedojudo, will bring together the best judokas, both men’s and women’s, from the different associations affiliated with the governing body of judo in the country.

For this Friday, starting at 5:00 in the afternoon, the weigh-in and the technical conference will take place, as announced by Leidi Germán, technical director of Fedojudo.

In the National Cadet and Junior Judo Championships, just over 200 individual athletes will compete in both branches.

The program establishes that for Saturday, from 10:00 in the morning, the combats in male cadet and junior will begin, while the opening ceremony is scheduled for 11:00 in the morning, to then continue the day .

On Sunday, from 10:00 in the morning, the fights start in the cadet and junior female branch.

Athletes from 23 associations will take part in the Championship, organized by Fedojudo, with the support of the Ministry of Sports.

This championship is carried out with the objective of evaluating the competitive level of the athletes in order to be integrated into the national teams and for participation in the Junior Pan American Championship that will take place in Brazil next April.
