Nadal will do “everything possible” to reach the clay season but “lately it is difficult for him to make predictions”

PALMA, 20 Mar. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish tennis player Rafael Nadal assured this Wednesday that he will do “everything possible” to work on his goal of reaching the clay season, but he admitted that “lately it has been difficult for him to make predictions.”

This is how the tennis player responded to questions from the press about a date for his possible return to the courts, before the celebration of the II Rafa Nadal Foundation Awards Gala at the Es Baluard Museum in Palma.

“I feel good but I simply have not been able to follow the schedule that I would have liked, I hope things can change but I can’t say because I don’t even know,” he stated.

Regarding whether he is optimistic about his immediate future, Nadal has indicated that beyond being optimistic or pessimistic he is “realistic”, since for two years it has been “impossible” for him to compete, which is his “first objective.”

“I go day by day, if I had to be an optimist or a pessimist I probably wouldn’t even be trying, because it’s a long time, I have a very long age and a career behind me, so in the end I try not to be one thing or the other, go day by day, work to give myself opportunities and we will see when we can try,” he said.

Asked about his withdrawal from the recent Masters 1,000 in Indian Wells (California), he stated that due to tennis problems “he is not usually removed from any place” and when he does it is due to “physical problems.”

“The reality is that I did not feel prepared to start playing at this level with the little training background I had, so I did not want to start a tournament coming from where I come and without any guarantee of advancing to the levels that I have to. demand myself to start a tournament,” he said.
