Mountain very contained and without a time trial, this is the next Women’s Tour

Eight stages, one more than last year, define a women’s Vuelta a España 2024 that can undoubtedly be greatly improved.

With a route without an individual time trial, the race will have mountains, but ifn a hardness or profiles that invite cyclists to play beyond the final ascents.

This with profiles that seem taken from the worst days we have seen in the male version.

The race has been presented for 8M, starting on Sunday, April 28 in Valencia and ending on May 5 in Valdesquí.

Throughout its eight stages, the race will visit eight provinces in five different autonomous communities. In sports, the cyclists will face a team time trial, a flat stage, two undulating stages, a medium mountain stage and three mountain stages.

Departure from Valencia

The Valencian capital, which already has the experience of being the official start of La Vuelta in 1996 and 2002, will host the inaugural team time trial that will have the City of Arts and Sciences and the Oceanogràfic as its epicenter.

The second day, starting in Buñol, will travel through the interior of the Valencian province before entering Castellón territory to finish in Moncófar.

The third stage will also depart from the province of Castellón, from Lucena, before heading to Teruel on a mid-mountain journey.

On the next day, the race will make its first foray into the province of Guadalajara to leave Molina de Aragón, before returning to the Aragonese community on mainly flat terrain and experiencing a final stage in its capital, Zaragoza.

Some Pyrenees summarized in Jaca

The first mountainous day of the race will also come with the debut of the Pyrenees in the women’s round.

After leaving the capital of Huesca, the platoon will face the climb to the Alto del Monasterio de San Juan de la Peña, second category, and the final ascent to the Rapitán Fort, in Jaca.

The second high finish of the race will come in the next stage, which will link Tarazona, in Zaragoza, and La Laguna Negra de Vinuesa, in Soria.

A peak that, with two appearances in La Vuelta, has already written the first pages of its cycling history.

Final in Valdesquí

Already in the last weekend of the race, the peloton will leave the Soria territory, starting in San Esteban de Gormaz, to return to the province of Guadalajara and finish in Sigüenza, with some final ascending meters that will test the explosiveness of the cyclists.

The finale of this second edition of La Vuelta Femenina will take place in the Community of Madrid.

First, the departure from the Telefónica District will serve to participate in the celebration of the company’s centenary, as La Vuelta 24 will also do in its final stage.

The peloton will head towards the Sierra de Guadarrama, crossing cycling territory, with the climb to Puerto de la Morcuera, first category, and the final ascent to Valdesquí, also first category, which will crown the final winner of La Vuelta Femenina 24.
