Minnesota Timberwolves Star Karl-Anthony Towns to Miss Game Against Indiana Pacers Due to Knee Soreness

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Minnesota Timberwolves star Karl-Anthony Towns will miss the road game against the Indiana Pacers because of what the team described as soreness in his left knee.

The Athletic and ESPN reported that the Dominican power forward suffers from a torn meniscus and that the next step in treatment is being analyzed. The Timberwolves declined to confirm the reports.

Towns, in his ninth year in the NBA, has been one of the pillars for the Timberwolves to be the leaders of the Western Conference this season. The ‘All-Star’ averages 22.1 points and 8.4 rebounds per game and boasts his best three-point percentage, 42.3%.

He had barely missed a game this season, due to pain in his left knee, on December 23.

He showed no problems in Minnesota’s most recent game against Portland on Monday night, although he played just 21 minutes — his second-fewest total of the season.

Towns’ absence will force Anthony Edwards, another All-Star, to contribute more to the offense. And Naz Reid, the backup to Towns and center Rudy Gobert, will have to take on a bigger role.
