Milan announces a foreign pitcher for the championship that is about to begin. This is the 23-year-old Cuban Randy Cueto Perez who already has four seasons in the National Series with Villa Clara and was one of the protagonists of the last round of the championship in which he led his team to a 4-0 success against Sancti Spiritus. Cueto started 5 shots without allowing any hits.
But this is only the latest calling card of the Cuban pitcher who participated with the Caribbean national team in the last Pan American Under 23 championships. In four seasons in the Cuban top league, in which he made his debut at 19 years old in 2020, he has an average per-par of 6.43 in 378 innings pitched, but this year he posted a very good 1.93.
Cueto will be in Milan over the weekend and will most likely make his debut on April 7th in Codogno in the Fodritto Tournament. He will therefore be the one to play the starting role in the next championship in the competition reserved for foreign pitchers. Randy Cueto is the sixth Cuban in the history of the rossoblù, after Yadir Castillo, who played only 3 games between 2002 and 2005, Conrado Silva and Ernesto Wong, protagonists of the United era with 94 appearances each between 2009 and 2012, Dunnay Perez with 11 games pitched in 2016 and Carlos Boza with 14 appearances in 2018. Unlike the five previous players, all already resident in Italy, Cueto is the first to arrive directly from Cuba to play for Milan.
Furthermore, his father, Josè Luis Cueto, will also arrive with Randy, who will work as a coach for our youth teams.
