With just over five months until the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, the Canadian Wheelchair Basketball Federation named Michèle Sung as head coach of the women’s national team on Tuesday.

Sung succeeds Paul Bowes and becomes the fourth person to hold the position in the space of 10 months.

She will have to quickly get her hands dirty since the last chance tournament for Paralympic qualification will take place in less than a month, from April 17 to 20, in Osaka, Japan.

Originally from Millgrove, Ontario, Sung spent the last 10 years at the helm of the University of Alberta Bisons women’s team, where she previously captained the team for three seasons.

She will be in her second stint with Team Canada, having already acted as an assistant from 2012 to 2014, participating in the conquest of the world championship, in Toronto, in 2014.
