Since 2024 began, Osmar Olvera has not stopped getting on the podium. Yesterday, the diver achieved his fifth medal of the year by winning silver in the three-meter springboard event at the World Cup that took place in Berlin, Germany.

The 19-year-old national team went from less to more in the European competition to total 476.70 units, surpassed only by the Chinese Zongyuan Wang, who took the gold with 505.90. The bronze was obtained by the German Lars Rudiger with 463.20.

I’m happy, obviously, to be on the podium, but I’m not satisfied. I think I could have done better. In the end it was where I felt most comfortable, but I am happy to be able to recover and reach the medals, he told the organizers.

The manakin began his participation with scores of 87 points and as his performances progressed he reached scores higher than 93 points.

Since he won two silver medals at the Fukuoka World Cup in 2023, Osmar’s level in the pit has been rising, which consolidates him as one of the strong cards heading into the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

My dad was able to accompany me, there were also several Mexican flags and obviously that motivates you. My mom couldn’t come, but her friend is there that she came to support. “I think it feels good to see the flag and feel that energy of the Mexicans,” she added.

Despite his youth, Olvera will participate in his second summer event consolidated as the most consistent diver with the best results on the national aquatic sport team.

Osmar began this year with a gold in the one-meter springboard and a bronze in the individual three-meter, during the World Championships held in Qatar; She later obtained silver and bronze in the World Series in Canada, prior to her participation in Berlin.

The increase in the degree of difficulty of the Mexican’s jumps is evident, since when he began competing internationally in 2017 his scores barely reached 300 points, while this year he already exceeded 500 on two occasions (in the competitions Fukuoka and Canada).

Veloz stands out in Portugal

The Mexican Iván Veloz won the silver medal in the Aerobic Gymnastics World Cup held in Catanhede, Portugal.

The native of Coahuila finished in third position in the preliminary tests with 20.50 units, and advanced to the final in which with a final score of 20.450, he obtained second place, escorted by the Italian Davide Nacci, who won the gold and the local Rui Cansado, bronze winner.

This is the third time in Veloz’s career that he has reached the podium in a World Cup, after winning gold in 2015 with 21.850 and silver in 2018 with a score of 22.050.

Iván also participated in the Trios category along with Mario Nava and María Fernanda González, who placed in fifth position.
