The Mexican judokas Paulina Martínez and Prisca Awiti Alcaraz had a discreet performance this weekend within the framework of the Grand Slam Tbilisi 2024 that was held in Tbilisi, Georgia.

As we reported at the time, this and other events helped the Mexican judokas and the different participating countries to continue adding points for the Olympic ranking.

Both Paulina and Prisca are representatives of the state of Guanajuato and both were eliminated in the round of 32 against Brazilian and Italian rivals, respectively.

In the contest endorsed by the International Judo Federation (IFJ), Paulina Martínez, originally from Jalisco, but representing Guanajuato, was the first to take action in her -52 kilogram category.

She faced the Brazilian Larissa Pimenta in the round of 32 (sixteenths), who arrived in Tbilisi as the third best ranked and tenth in the world ranking and won the South American competition, although in the end she could not finish among the medalists either.

The gold went to the Spanish Ariane Toro Soler, the silver to the Croatian Ana Viktorija Puljiz and the bronzes to the Kosovo Distria Krasniqi and the German Mascha Ballhaus.

And the Londoner, but with Leonese blood, Prisca Awiti Alcaraz, participated in -63 kilograms and also failed to advance beyond the first round.
