Memphis Grizzlies Give Opportunity to Young Players Like Wenyen Gabriel Amid Injury-Plagued Season

The Memphis Grizzlies’ season was born crooked. But since Ja Morant’s shoulder ended up cutting it short, the team has become little less than a laboratory in which, yes, they do not give up a game for lost. Taking advantage of the situation, Taylor Jenkins is giving the opportunity to many young people. Among them, players who sign ten-day contracts as Wenyen Gabriel just did.

The Sudanese center has not played a game in the NBA since last year, when his contract with the Lakers came to an end. In October he signed an exhibition agreement with the Boston Celtics, who cut him before the start of the season. Now Gabriel will have a new opportunity to rejoin the best league in the world.

This season the former Los Angeles native has played 24 games for the Wisconsin Herd, the Milwaukee Bucks affiliate in the G League. With them he has 16.6 points and 10 rebounds in 33 minutes per evening.
