Max Kepler Leads Minnesota Twins to Victory on Opening Day in MLB Season

Max Kepler has made a successful start to the new Major League Baseball (MLB) season. The Berliner and his Minnesota Twins won 4-1 against the Kansas City Royals on Opening Day. Kepler is the only German MLB professional and is entering his tenth season with the Twins, with whom he reached the quarterfinals in the last series.

The defending champions are the Texas Rangers. The franchise from Arlington near Dallas won 4-3 against the Chicago Cubs at the start of the season. The Los Angeles Dodgers with superstar Shohei Ohtani also won 7-1 against the St. Louis Cardinals on Opening Day. The Japanese Ohtani was traded from the Los Angeles Angels to the Dodgers, where he signed a ten-year, $700 million contract. Kepler will collect a guaranteed sum of ten million dollars this season.

Each of the 30 MLB teams plays 162 games in the regular season, followed by the playoffs. The final series between the champions of the American League (AL) and the National League (NL) is called the World Series.
