Matiu and Soucouna (Biarritz) to Montpellier

It is now on very good track. According to our information, third-row center Temo Matiu (1.91m, 100kg) and second-row Youssouf Soucouna (2.01m, 99kg) should join Montpellier this summer.

The MHR is in fact in the process of finalizing an agreement with Biarritz Olympique (twelfth in Pro D2) to buy out the contracts of the two young players, respectively linked to the BO until 2026 and 2025. On the Hérault side, president Mohed Altrad will have to pay a very large sum to the Biarritz leaders. Still according to our information, the amount of 700,000 euros is mentioned.

Matiu, who was of great interest to Bordeaux-Bègles, played 20 matches with Biarritz this season, including 19 as a starter. Considered a very promising number 8, the son of former international Legi Matiu has regularly impressed for Aguiléra in recent months. He should be in competition with English international Billy Vunipola (31 years old, 75 caps) who agreed this week to MHR for the next two seasons. As for Soucouna, one of the Basque club’s Hopes, he has never appeared with the BOPB professional team.

Towards a new spectacular transfer

President Jean-Baptiste Aldigé, who will leave Biarritz at the end of the season with owner Louis-Vincent Gave, would thus sign a new (and undoubtedly final) spectacular transfer on the transfer market, after those already carried out in recent seasons, notably for Lucas Peyresblanques and Mathieu Hirigoyen, who left for Stade Français in 2022, Romain Ruffenach for Pau the same year, Francis Saili for Racing 92 a few months later or even Baptiste Erdocio and Auguste Cadot, already sold to Montpellier last summer.
