Martin takes World Cup lead with victory in Portugal

Spaniard Jorge Martin won the Portuguese GP in Portimao on Sunday and took the lead in the MotoGP standings. The Ducati rider prevailed ahead of his Italian brand colleague Enea Bastianini and the two KTMs of Pedro Acosta (Spain) and Brad Binder (South Africa).

World champion Francesco Bagnaia from Italy was involved in a crash with his Spanish Ducati teammate Marc Marquez while fighting for fifth place and only came in 20th, while Marquez dragged himself to the finish in 16th. Sprint winner Maverick Vinales from Spain was also unlucky. The Aprilia driver fell while lying in second place due to a technical defect.
