Ten days ago, in Grenoble, the Caennaise made a name for herself among the hopes of her discipline, after dominating Sarah Goberon, her friend from ES Carpiquet, in the quarter-finals. “Emotionally, it was the hardest match of my championship,” she slips.
“Reaching the high level among seniors”
In terms of emotions, her final wasn’t bad either, since she was declared the winner in the jump-off. “The entire final depended on a single arrow, the pressure was enormous. I tried to clear my head as much as possible, and to concentrate only on my gesture, my movement and my technique, continues Marie Regnault. Our arrows were close at the finish, and then it was the ultimate joy when I knew I had won. This final will stay in my memory for a long time. »
The performance is all the more remarkable as the new French champion is only 18 years old. And is therefore only in his second year with the U21s (6th in 2023). Obviously, it has whetted the appetite of the first-year student at INSA Rouen, sports-studies sector, while the outdoor season will open soon.
“This is the first year that I have really performed well. I am progressing, she analyzes. Outdoors, there is always more competition, with the arrival of archers from the Pôles Espoirs. I would like to make a top 5 in France at 70 m, mid-July, and have an average around 600-615 points. »
From there to dreaming of major championships among seniors in the years to come? “ Archery is a sport that cannot become a profession, other than becoming a coach. It will therefore remain a passion for me, but I hope to reach the high level among the seniors. »
