Indeed, after having made a splash by winning all the departmental titles in U13 girls, U15 girls, U13 boys and U15 boys. The U15 boys and girls from fourth and third grades played for the Auvergne academic titles in triangular form.
The boys traveled to Cusset to play against colleges from Beaumont and Cusset. At the end of two intense suspenseful matches with the same appearance. That is to say, very tight and always neck and neck, their team spirit and mutual aid allowed them to go ahead at the last minute of the matches and win down to the wire: 64 to 62 against Beaumont and 56-54 against Cusset.
The team consisted of Quentin, Jules, Mahé, Léandre, Mathieu, Ylias, Esteban, Noah, Erwan, Mathieu, Mathis, Raphaël and Fabio who knew how to supervise them. They are academic champions.
For their part, the girls flew through the debates by welcoming the teams from Cusset and Issoire to the Monteil gymnasium. Two clear victories 85 to 8 against Cusset and 97 to 13 against Issoire. Kléa, Anouk, Fanny, Mahaut, Valentine, Alice, Naomi and Victoire are also academic champions.
A great satisfaction is to have also been able to certify young coaches and referees at the academic level (Alice, Anouk, Victoire, Ylias, Quentin). This is part of one of the educational axes of the basketball class at Monteil college.
The next stage is scheduled for Wednesday April 3, where the U15 boys will go to Lyon and the U15 girls to Saint Chamond, to play the interacademics between the champions Auvergne, Lyon and Grenoble. They will also be in the form of triangulars. The objective will be qualification for the French championships.
