In preparation for the international matches against France and the Netherlands, Neuer tore a muscle fiber in his thigh. He then left the German national team camp early and returned to Munich. He is now being treated there.

Neuer will miss the international matches – and possibly also the top Bundesliga game against Borussia Dortmund. BVB will be guests at the Allianz Arena in Munich next Saturday (March 30th).

Use against Dortmund? “It can be very tight”

“It can of course be very, very close against Dortmund,” said Michaelrechner, Bayern Munich’s goalkeeping coach, on Sky. “I’m currently assuming that it probably won’t be enough for Dortmund,” he said clearly.

Sven Ulreich will probably replace Neuer in the Bayern goal. The 35-year-old replaced Neuer at the start of the season when he was still out. Another option would be Daniel Peretz, who moved from Maccabi Tel Aviv to the record champions in the summer.

But the European Championship is not in danger with Manuel Neuer. “The timing is unfortunate. But basically it’s just a minor injury. He is being treated and is on the right track. (…) He’ll come back quickly,” saidrechner.
