Jannik Sinner’s Comeback Victory at Miami Masters 1000

At the Miami Masters 1000, Jannik Sinner found himself on the ropes. The Dutch Tallon Griekspoor (N26) had won the first set 7-5 and in the second they were 3-3. But in that context it started to rain and the game had to be paused.

The truth is that it was great for the Italian, number three in the world and the best tennis player of 2024 so far. After the stoppage, the 22-year-old raised his level and finally took the match 5-7, 7-5, 6-1.

“Today I was in a very complicated situation. I tried to stay mentally strong and I wanted to come back after the break being much more offensive. I am very happy with the result,” Sinner commented after the comeback.

With this new victory, N3 not only reached the round of 16 of the tournament that twice had it as a finalist (2021 and 2023): it also improved its incredible record in 2024.

Sinner is 18-1 this season. He reached the Indian Wells semifinals 16-0, where he lost to the Spanish Carlos Alcaraz (N2).

In the round of 16 in Miami, he will face a seemingly accessible rival: the Australian Christopher O’Connell (N66) or the American Martin Damm Jr. (N204).

Alcaraz goes to the round of 16 in Miami

The 20-year-old Spaniard beat his compatriot Roberto Carballes Baena very well (6-2, 6-1) in his debut and is going for more. This Monday he will face the Frenchman Gael Monfils (N47), who at 37 years old is playing great tennis. Guaranteed show: these are two very colorful and talented players.
