Manchester City’s star striker Erling Haaland has reportedly rejected an offer to become one of the protagonists of a new documentary series from streaming giant Netflix. This is reported by the Daily Mail.
According to the report, Netflix is planning a series about the Premier League’s top scorers. The eight-part documentary “Quarterbacks” about the lives of three game designers in the US football league NFL serves as inspiration. Patrick Mahomes, Kirk Cousins and Marcus Mariota were accompanied on and off the pitch over a longer period of time.
This format was successful and should serve as a blueprint for a striker documentary. Premier League top scorer Haaland would certainly have been an attractive participant, but he is said to have already rejected the offer.
In addition to Haaland, Mohamed Salah from Liverpool FC and Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins have also been made offers, but they have not yet decided. No attacker has been contacted by league leaders Arsenal, including English international Bukayo Saka, who currently has 13 goals this season.
Filming for the striker series is scheduled to begin at the beginning of the 2024/25 season. The publication is planned for autumn 2025. It would be the next big football documentary format within a short time.
