Mahmoud Dahoud Leaves Syrian National Team Amidst Transfer Controversy

Mahmoud Dahoud from VfB Stuttgart has left the Syrian national team before his possible international debut.

As the Syrian Football Association announced on Instagram on Tuesday, the 28-year-old left his quarters in Saudi Arabia on Tuesday morning. The association was unable to meet the demands made by Dahoud’s advisor.

On Tuesday evening, Syria will play the World Cup qualifier against Myanmar (8 p.m.) in Dammam, Saudi Arabia. Dahoud, who has made a total of eight short appearances for Stuttgart so far, announced his change of association two weeks ago.

The midfielder, who was on loan from Brighton & Hove Albion until the summer, played in two friendly matches for Germany’s senior national team in 2020.
