Magic vs. Kings Preview: Orlando Seeks Revenge

Our Magic – Kings tip for March 24, 2024 (midnight):

When the Orlando Magic and the Sacramento Kings meet on the night from Saturday to Sunday, it will be a duel between two teams that could hardly be more different. The Magic, as a young, up-and-coming team in the Eastern Conference, are one of the best defensive teams in the league, but on the other hand they have their problems offensively. The guests are the Kings from Sacramento, who have been able to gain their first playoff experience in recent years and stand out with their exciting offensive play. Accordingly, it is not easy to have the right anticipation when it comes to Magic-Kings tips.

The Magic currently seem to have slightly better cards. They have won their last five games in a row, are one of the strongest teams in the league at home (25-9) and in 5th place they have a good chance of direct playoff qualification. Sacramento, on the other hand, is only in 8th place in the West, lost its last game and is not to be underestimated on the road (20-16), but not as dominant as the Magic at home. Orlando is therefore considered the favorite for the Magic Kings tip.

Magic – Kings forecast: Magic use top form

The Magic have been in top form since the All-Star Break. They have won 12 of their last 15 games, but it is worth taking a closer look at the last few weeks. The program wasn’t really that demanding and the only supposed playoff team they were able to defeat during this time was the New Orleans Pelicans. All other wins were against teams that are unlikely to make the playoffs or playins.

The Kings have won seven of 11 games since the beginning of March. In contrast to the Magic, they were able to eliminate some top-class players with successes over the Wolves, Lakers (2x) and Bucks and thus underline their playoff claims. They are currently only in 8th place with a record of 40-29, but the Mavs (in 6th place) are very similar with a record of 41-29, so everything is still possible for the Kings.

This is how the last encounter ended!

The first duel between these two teams was one of the most exciting games of the season. In double overtime, the Kings prevailed 138-135 as Domantas Sabonis dominated with 22 points, 23 rebounds and 12 assists and Malik Monk contributed 37 points in the victory. Banchero delivered 43 points for the Magic (career high), but his Magic had to cope with the loss of Franz Wagner and Gary Harris in the game. The Magic were also missing Cole Anthony, Jonathan Isaac, Markelle Fultz and Joe Ingles.

Our Magic – Kings tip: Magic want revenge

Both teams had the day off yesterday, only the Kings have the journey in their bones. However, their journey from Washington was not particularly long.

  • The Kings have the fourth-best offense in the West and the eighth-best offense in the league (117.9 points). Orlando has good individuals offensively and they play well together as a team, but they play very slowly, so only four teams score fewer points than them (110.9).
  • The slow pace also ensures Orlando’s good defensive values. With 108.8 points conceded, they have the third-best defense in the league, while the Kings concede 116.5 points per game.
  • It’s a duel of different philosophies, with the stronger offense deciding the game in the first game. With the fans behind them and a healthy squad, the Magic’s chances aren’t bad today.
