Madagascar’s National 3×3 Basketball Teams Head to African Games in Ghana

Antananarivo, March 9, 4:50 p.m. – And off we go for the Ankoays. The seven basketball players and two coaches of the men’s and women’s national 3×3 basketball teams are leaving the Big Island this Saturday to reach Accra, the Ghanaian capital, for the African Games.

For the ladies, three young basketball players selected at the end of the De La Rue Vers L’Or project form the national team with expatriate Marion Rasolofoson. They are Koloina Rakotonirina, Karen Razafimahefa and Maya Nirinaharisoa. They will be supervised by Prisca Razananirina on site.

For men, the selection is made up of Marco Rakotovao, Kanto Arimanana, Aziz Raharisoa and Hasina Rasolondrianina. They will be coached by Mathieu Rakotomalala.

The two teams will compete on March 18 for the group stage. According to the schedule published by the organizers of the African Games, the ladies will meet Algeria at 3:25 p.m. then Namibia at 6:20 p.m. for their first matches in Group A. The men will start with Morocco at 5:05 p.m. then continue with Botswana at 8:00 p.m. in group A.
