Luka Doncic Inspires Dallas Mavericks to Victory with Record-Tying Performance

It is not news that Luka Doncic shines, but it is news that the Dallas Mavericks take advantage of the inspiration of their great star to achieve a victory. The Texans ended their three-game losing streak by beating the Miami Heat 114-108. Luka Doncic recorded his fifteenth triple-double of the season (35 points, 11 assists and 11 rebounds), also signing a three-point frenzy at the end of the game that turned out to be key to what really matters, his team’s victory.

“It’s great, especially when it comes with a victory”

Thanks to this performance, Doncic tied Russell Westbrook’s NBA record with his fifth consecutive game achieving a triple-double of more than 30 points, being the first to achieve it by adding 35 or more points.

Most of his points came from beyond the arc: the 7/13 in triples that the Slovenian signed were his main source of scoring, some of them to tip the balance in favor of the locals.

After Terry Rozier, the best on the visitors with 27 points and 11 assists, responded with a triple that brought Miami within two, Dereck Lively II found Kyrie Irving (23 points) after an offensive rebound for the third consecutive triple of the Mavericks, who turned the 100-101 in favor of the Heat into a comfortable advantage for the Mavs. Irving was once again Luka Doncic’s luxury squire, demonstrating time and time again that his connection is absolute.

It was not at all an easy victory for the Mavs. The Heat arrived in Dallas having won seven of the last eight games and came out like a shot, leading by 15 points in the first quarter. But despite a very distributed score – up to six Florida players added at least 13 points – the Heat ended up cooling down against some injured Mavs who wanted to redeem their past mistakes.

Exum scored 13 points in just 17 minutes from the bench and Daniel Gafford was perfect in shooting with a 5/5 for 12 points to also be vital in the local reaction, which saw how even Tim Hardaway Jr. had moments of lucidity contributing 11 points from the bench.

Although none of them had the relevance of Luka Doncic, an anomaly that Jason Kidd wanted to compare with a Spanish painter: “I have always said that we cannot take that young man for granted. “We are looking at something as rare as a Picasso.”
