Luis De la Fuente’s explanations about Brahim

Luis de la Fuente, Spanish coach, explained the reasons why he did not call Brahim Díaz, a Real Madrid player, knowing Morocco’s interest in calling the Malaga footballer. All this after giving the following list of those called up for the next two friendlies in Spain:

Goalkeepers: Unai Simón (Athletic), David Raya (Arsenal) and Remiro (Real Sociedad)

Defenses: Carvajal (Real Madrid), Pedro Porro (Tottenham) Jesús Navas (Sevilla), Le Normand (Real Sociedad), Vivian (Athletic), Laporte (Al Nassr), Pau Cubarsí (Barcelona), Grimaldo (Bayer Leverkusen) and Gayà (Valencia ).

Midfielders: Rodrigo (Manchester City), Zubimendi (Real Sociedad), Mikel Merino (Real Sociedad), Fabián (PSG), Sancet (Athletic) and Baena (Villarreal).

Fronts: Lamine Yamal (Barcelona), Nico Williams (Athletic), Dani Olmo (RB Leipzig), Oyarzabal (Real Sociedad), Sarabia (Wolverhamtpon), Gerard Moreno (Villarreal), Joselu (Real Madrid) and Morata (Atlético).

Regarding Brahim, De la Fuente maintains his speech: “The decision is made by Brahim before March 1, which facilitated the prelist. It was clear. When a player wants to be there, he is here, and if he doesn’t want to be there, it is accepted absolutely naturally. Everyone is where they want to be. “I have a lot of affection for him, I am the coach who has selected him the most.”

The coach, angry, responded to several questions on the subject: “I didn’t call him because it was impossible to bring him in. On March 1 I give a pre-list on which he is. From November to March there are no possibilities because there are no calls. It’s the only thing I could do. There is a document from March 9 in which he renounces playing for Spain. He couldn’t be brought. He has decided to play for Morocco and total respect.”
