TOKYO (Japan) – Third place and bronze medal at the Games for Lucilla Boari, who took Italy where it had never reached before in this discipline. Against the American Mackenzie Brown (not reaching the final by a millimetre, losing the other semi-final to An Sun in the play-off), the girl from Mantua manages to prevail with a 7-1 which takes her straight into history.

Boari bronze medal

The path of Lucilla Boari had taken her to the semifinals in women’s individual archery. The Italian was defeated 6-0 by the Russian Elena Osipova (25-27, 26-29, 26-27), but the feat was achieved already in the quarter-finals, when she won with a score of 6-2 against the Chinese Wu Jiaxin (29-27, 28-25, 27-28, 29-27). A huge achievement for the girl from Mantua, who cut her teeth in Rio de Janeiro 2016, and at her second Olympics she first brought an Italian athlete into the final four for the first time in history and then also gave her a bronze medal.
