LIVE Milan-Sanremo: Van der Poel for 2 in a row, Pogacar “will attack on the Poggio”

No Wout van Aert in Milan-San Remo, we have known that for a long time. That opens the way for Christophe Laporte at Visma-Lease a Bike. The European champion is ambitious, but has to share the leadership with Olav Kooij, who won two stages in Paris-Nice.

“This is my very first monument,” says 22-year-old Kooij. “I don’t think we have the top favorite, but Christophe has started his season well.”

Sports director Maarten Wynants thinks that Visma-Lease a Bike can also win from the underdog position. “Fortunately, the top favorite does not always win. If we are lucky, it can go our way. But if Van der Poel and Pogacar compete, it will be a challenge to follow them.”

In addition to Laporte and Kooij, the Dutch team also counts on the twins Tim and Mick van Dijke, Julien Vermote, Tosh Van der Sande and Johannes Staune-Mittet.
