A few weeks after the Macro Regional phase began, the Leonese delegation already has its first athletes classified for the Conade 2024 Nationals in eleven disciplines.
The sports of soccer and diving are the ones that Leonese will contribute the most to the Guanajuato representative, as well as other disciplines such as chess, badminton, basketball, handball, softball, tennis, table tennis and sports shooting, which are now already working to face the final competitions that will take place in venues such as Jalisco, Campeche, CDMX and Colima.
In soccer in both branches they achieved their classification, in the sports shooting that took place at the Guadalajara Sports Center, Jalisco carried out the qualifying stage and ended with good results.
The sports rifle team, led by Olympian Goretti Zumaya, advanced with five athletes from León; two in the Minor Youth category, one in Senior Youth and two more in Elite; This team will participate in twelve tests; nine of them individual and three in mixed teams.
The sports pistol team advanced with six young people from León and will be present in thirteen events in the national competition.
Water polo is in the qualifying process and, so far, it already has a team of twelve from León with a ticket to the Nationals.
Meanwhile, in the Diving, the Leonese arrive at these Nationals with strength, in the last qualifier they managed to get 17 athletes from children’s categories to advance to the last stage where they hope to bring medals in the different participating categories; The youth categories will participate in their qualifier in April.
Basketball reinforces the Guanajuato representative with eight Leonese and handball does so with four athletes from León.
Tennis, badminton and table tennis will participate in the Conade Nationals with four Leonese each, while softball and chess will have two athletes from León in the state representative.
