Leoben second in the table after a draw in the derby

After the defeat at Vienna, DSV Leoben also gave up points in the Styrian derby. The cup semi-finalist only managed a 0-0 draw at home against Kapfenberger SV in the 21st round of the Admiral 2nd League on Friday, but at least temporarily took second place in the table. In the second derby, St. Pölten defeated bottom team Amstetten 3:1 (2:0) and kept up with the chasing group from league leaders GAK. The Graz team will be playing against SV Ried in the evening game (8.30 p.m., live on ORF Sport +).

In Leoben, after an even first half, the DSV was mostly in control after the break, but barely managed to get dangerously into the penalty area. In the finish, KSV initially had the chance to score the winning goal (82′), and in stoppage time a DSV chance was just defused (95′).

St. Pölten proved to be a more efficient team against Amstetten in the first half. Christoph Messerer’s debut goal in the league from around 20 meters (9′) and Johannes Tartarotti’s five-pointer after a free kick (45’+3) gave the hosts a 2-0 half-time lead. After the substitution, David Riegler made it 3-0 with a header from a corner (54′). But Amstetten didn’t give up and got a deserved consolation goal through Dominik Starkl (79′).
