Leicester Women have opened an investigation into their manager, according to the Guardian over an alleged affair with a player

The Leicester women’s football team, which plays in the English championship, has announced that it has opened an internal investigation into its coach, Willie Kirk: according to the Guardian, an authoritative British newspaper usually very well informed about sport and especially English football, the investigation should clarify the reliability of accusations according to which Kirk had a relationship with a player. In the meantime, he always says the Guardianthe coach has been suspended: Leicester have not confirmed the accusations nor explicitly spoken about suspension, but have only made it known that for the duration of the investigation Kirk will be replaced by some of his collaborators.

Kirk is 45 years old, Scottish and has been coaching Leicester since November 2022. He has coached some men’s football teams, but he spent most of his career in women’s teams: the last one before arriving at Leicester was Everton (of Liverpool). Already on Saturday he was replaced for the match against Liverpool in the FA Cup, the main English league cup.
