The final opponent of the world number five on Sunday is another Chilean, Nicolas Jarry. The 28-year-old, who is ranked 24th in the current ATP rankings, defeated the American Tommy Paul 6:3 6:7 (3/7) 6:3 late in the evening.

For Zverev, who won the title in Rome in 2017, it is the eleventh final at a Masters 1000 tournament, bringing him level with German tennis icon Boris Becker. The clay court tournament is the last big test of form before the French Open in Paris, which begins on May 26th.
