Laura Larigillière: A Fighter on and off the Tatami

So many principles which undoubtedly apply to Laura Larigillière. There…

So many principles which undoubtedly apply to Laura Larigillière. The 26-year-old young woman, suffering from a psychological deficiency, lives in Saint-Claud with her parents and her brother Théo. She is employed at the establishment and work support service (Esat) of the municipality. She is also quite a fighter, formidable on the tatami.

She will defend the colors of the Chasseneuil judo club chaired by Gaëlle Chicot and those of Charente at the French para judo championships in the adapted sport category from Friday April 5 to Sunday April 7 in Montauban. The young woman, orange belt, will fight in the under 78 kilo category.

Judo brings me more serenity, channels me.

“Laura was selected during a competition in Coulounieix in Dordogne. She won all three of her fights. Following this event I received an email confirming his qualification for the French championships. It’s a first for the club,” smiles Bernard Saugueil, trainer at the Chasseurneuil judo club since 2014. He is fully involved in putting all the chances on Laura’s side “who is a competitor aware of the competition but who knows how to be a fighter, strong-willed and independent.”

Laura started on the tatami with aikido then chose judo “which brings me more serenity, channels me. My teacher is very kind, calm and attentive,” she confides before resuming her training alongside her teacher.

Numerous medals

“A workout like any other, but a little forced. Apart from arm locks which are prohibited this competition is like the others”, continues Bernard Saugueil focused on the national competition in Montauban “Where we will start with the opening ceremony on Friday before a coaches meeting. The events will take place on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. then the final phases in the afternoon. Before a gala meal which will bring together all the participants.”

With gold, silver and bronze medals gleaned during departmental and regional competitions, Laura Larigillière already has a fine track record. And whatever the outcome of the championship in April, the young woman has already won a great victory for herself. “She has a great career,” comment her parents, proud of their daughter, assuring her of their full support.

A great adventure supported, for logistics, by the municipality of Saint-Claud which awarded aid of 100 euros to the Chasseurneuil club, by the Department, the Chasseurneuil association Communic’Action which offered the posters, and many economic players of the territory.

Without forgetting the Esat of Saint-Claud. Who paid a contribution of 150 euros to the judo club. “We are proud of her and happy,” underlines Olivier Lachaise, the director of the structure, who wishes her, along with all the Esat players, “an excellent competition and good luck”.
