Latvian biathletes remain eighteenth in the mixed relay at the World Cup stage

The victory was celebrated by the French quartet consisting of Gilles Simon, Sophie Chavo, Fabien Claude and Canten Fillon-Mayet. The French used only six rounds to spare and had already built up a lead of almost a minute over their nearest rivals after the first four rounds, but before the final stage the lead had shrunk to 18 seconds.

On the other hand, before the last shooting, the Italians had almost managed to catch up with France, reducing the deficit to 1.7 seconds, but Tommaso Giacomel earned two penalty laps, which allowed him to return to the track already more than a minute behind.

The French finished in one hour, three minutes and 48.6 seconds, ahead of the Swedish quartet by 32.2 seconds, while the Norwegian biathletes lost 35.9 seconds and finished third.

Buliņa, using all three spare cartridges, earned one penalty lap in the first shooting, but avoided the penalty lap in the second with the help of spare cartridges, returning to the track in 19th place.

In the first shooting, Sabule used one spare cartridge to close all the targets and rose to the 17th position, and in the standing shooting with two more spare cartridges, he closed all the targets, maintaining the 17th place.

Birkentāls shot all the targets in prone shooting with two spare cartridges, returning to the track in 18th place, but was then overtaken by a lap, the Latvian quartet finishing the competition in 18th position.

Out of 23 teams, 13 units were overtaken per lap.

In Esteshund, Birkentāls, Aleksandrs Patrijuks and sisters Sanita and Sandra Buliņas ranked 17th, but in Antholz, starting with the same line-up as in Holmenkollen, the Latvians were quickly overtaken by a lap and took the last, 23rd position.

It has already been reported that Andrejs Rastorgujev and Baiba Bendika ranked 14th in the pairs relay on Sunday.

After this stage, biathletes will go to North America, where they will play the final two World Cup stages of the season in the USA and Canada.
