Kyler Murray and other QBs ‘rejoice’ after Aaron Donald’s retirement: “Don’t come back”

Aaron Donald stunned the NFL world on Friday, announcing his retirement from the league. Donald had floated the possibility for the past couple of seasons, and he finally made the decision before he turns 33 years old.

Donald was still at the top of his game in 2023, but the long grind of another full season was likely too much to bear. He will now focus on off-field ventures and enjoy some of the $171 million he earned over his 10-year career with the Los Angeles Rams.

Kyler Murray’s funny response to Aaron Donald retiring

Donald retiring was met with sadness by football lovers, but some quarterbacks and offensive linemen might be happy they won’t have to deal with the monstrous attention Donald commanded.

On another post, Kyler Murray wrote: “Honored to have competed against the best of All-Time! Enjoy ya retirement and plz don’t come back.”

Murray and Donald squared off eight times, with the Rams coming out on top in seven of those meetings. Murray got sacked five times in total by the elite defensive tackle.

On the Rams’ first social media post of the day, announcing Donald’s retirement, the phrase “Quarterbacks Rejoice” graced the top of the graphic.

Donald accumulated 111 sacks over 154 games in his career. He won the Defensive Player of the Year Award on three different occasions and won the Super Bowl in 2022.
