Tremblay will participate in his first Parapan American Games from November 17 to 26 in Santiago, Chile
OTTAWA, ON, Sept. 12, 2023 /CNW/ – The Canadian Paralympic Committee and Archery Canada announced Tuesday that Kyle Tremblay has been named to represent Canada in para archery at the Santiago 2023 Parapan American Games.

Tremblay, who competes in the men’s open compound division, will be making his first appearance at the Parapan American Games. He has been a key member of the Canadian Para Archery team for many years and holds the current Canadian record in his category with a qualifying score of 703 (out of a possible total of 720).
This season he returned to competition after a three-year break due to illness, and his return was successful, as he won an individual gold medal and a mixed team bronze medal in the events archery competition of the 2023 Canada Cup, in the East and West editions. At the World Championships held this summer in Pilsen, Czechia – his third appearance at the World Championships (2017, 2019, 2023) – Tremblay was Canada’s top qualified athlete with his 61st position before losing a close match during the first elimination rounds.
“I am extremely proud to represent my country in archery at these Parapan American Games and to have another chance to secure a place for Canada at the Paralympic Games,” said Tremblay. “Coming back from an illness that took you out of the sport for three years is difficult in itself, but having to make up for all that lost time means you have to take your physical and mental training to the highest level possible. »

The Parapan American Games Para Archery competition will take place November 19-22. Athletes who place in the top two spots in the men’s compound event will earn a qualifying spot for their country at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games next summer.

The Santiago 2023 Parapan American Games will take place from November 17 to 26, 2023 in Santiago, Chile. Canada plans to send a team of around 140 athletes.
Before officially being part of the Canadian team heading to the Parapan American Games, all nominated athletes must be approved by the Canadian Paralympic Committee.
The current list of athletes on the team can be found HERE. The final approved list will be announced closer to the start of the Games.
